I don't have enough time! Which seems ridiculous, considering I can find time for newspapers, magazines, talk radio, and wandering the internet. Most information that we surround our daily lives with is either unimportant, irrelevant, or un-actionable (probably all three).
Kanye did WHAT?
How many ways are there to look cute next summer?
Someone just had waffles with bacon? OMG I MUST SPEND THE NEXT HOUR LOOKING AT FACEBOOK!
Negative, time consuming, or irrelevant to your goal information distracts us from being efficient, leaving us wondering where our time goes. We constantly fill our days with inputs that don't progress us to where we want to be.
Try to remind yourself multiple times a day, "Will I definitely use this information for something immediate and important? What actions am I avoiding by spending my time on this?"
What to do with all the extra time? Spend time with loved ones, write a novel, study your dream job, prep for tomorrow, work on being the best version of yourself, learn something new. Your options are limitless.
A lack of time is a misplacement of priorities and a misdivision of effort. Are you spending your attention, effort, and time on what's important (like actually eating bacon waffles, and not just wishing)?
